Self referral tests
Patients with chronic vulvovaginal disorders may present with exacerbating symptoms which may be related to infection with Candida albicans. Often they are not able to be seen urgently by their family doctor or specialist and in the 1st instance a vaginal swab should be taken to confirm the diagnosis. The result of the test will become available in 48 hours at which time treatment can be taken on the basis of a positive result.
